Guyot ADU - Portland, Oregon

One of the most common reasons people build ADUs is for “Aging in Place.” Our client wanted to build an ADU where family could live and age gracefully in a convenient location. One of the unique aspects of this ADU is the covered front & back porch with cedar tongue & groove ceilings that allow for covered outdoor living spaces.

We lovingly call this the “Molly ADU because the homeowner’s sister, Molly, came up with the dual covered porch concept. This one level ADU is 576 sqft with a 24’x24′ footprint, an open concept living space, hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings & skylights.

We worked with the client to integrate Universal Design concepts as well as additional personal preferences to ensure ease of living with wider doorways for the bedroom & bathroom, no steps throughout, a recessed tile shower with a bench, handheld & intentional grab bar placement.

Family is everything to us & we’re so happy to see our client be able to keep her family close too!
