This Portland forever home was built in the backyard of our client’s adult child’s property, thoughtfully designed with aging in place in mind. She had always dreamed of a beach cottage, and while the ocean is an hour away, this cozy yet spacious ADU brings that vision to life with charming, warm touches throughout.

Built in an L-shaped footprint and maximizing the allowed 800 square feet of living space, the home features a two-story layout with the bedroom on the main level, a fireplace in the living room, a kitchen peninsula, and an upstairs loft with a cozy reading nook overlooking a beloved tree—the focal point we centered the entire design around.
